PCM Replacement with Remanufactured Transmission Installation (Replaces 06-005, dated March 17, 2006, to update the information marked by the black bars and asterisks)

BACKGROUND

An updated powertrain control module (PCM) has been developed that can improve durability under certain, very specific driving conditions. For this reason, the PCM must be replaced with an updated unit when installing a remanufactured transmission.

NOTE:
When you order a remanufactured A/T, you may also get an updated PCM. You must install this unit as part of the A/T replacement. This PCM may be shipped separately, and may arrive on a different day than the remanufactured A/T.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Whenever you install a replacement transmission verify the PCM part number and, if necessary, install an updated PCM.

NOTE:
If the vehicle has had a remanufactured transmission or PCM installed previously, it may already have the updated PCM. When servicing one of these vehicles, confirm that PCM P/N 37820-PGK-305 or higher is installed.

^ If it is installed, return the new PCM.

^ If it is not installed, install the new PCM.
