MDX Audio Unit Buttons Stop Working

BACKGROUND

The preset 4, preset 5, preset 6, CD, and/or TAPE buttons on the 6-disc in-dash CD changer in the MDX Touring may stop working, or may work only intermittently. A piece of film in the faceplate may fall out of position, so the preset buttons no longer make contact with the microswitches.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Remove the audio unit and replace the faceplate. Not every vehicle in the VIN range needs this repair. Before doing any repair work, verify that the vehicle is shown on your responsibility report, or do a VIN status inquiry.

PARTS INFORMATION

Faceplate Kit (includes the faceplate and new mounting screws): P/N 39100-HXB-4035

TOOL INFORMATION

Each dealership is being sent two wrist straps. A wrist strap must be worn by the technician and grounded to a good grounding source while the faceplate is being replaced. Any static electricity could damage the audio unit.

Additional wrist straps, if needed, are commercially available at most electronics stores.

WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION
