Second Row Seat Does Not Fold Down or Recline

SYMPTOM

The left-side second row seat does not recline or fold down when you pull the recline lever, or the right-side second row seat does not fold and slide for third row seat access when you pull the rear seat access lever.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The outer slide covers have dislodged one or both fold down/recline cable clips.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Increase the opening in both outer slide covers to 25 mm.

Out of warranty:
Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the seat-back cover from the left-side second row seat.





2. Use a small screwdriver to lift the lower recline lever while lifting the recline lever with your hand, then fold the seat fully forward.





3. On the outer slide cover, measure and mark 25 mm from the rear edge of the lower recline lever opening.

4. Use an X-Acto knife or similar tool to cut and remove the section of outer slide cover along the marks.





5. Reinstall the recline cable on the lower recline lever. Make sure the cable clip is installed correctly.

6. Fold and recline the seat several times to make sure it works properly.

7. Reinstall the seat-back cover.

8. Repeat steps 1 thru 7 on the right-side second row seat.
