Product Update: MDX Seat Belt Harness

BACKGROUND

The MDX has a dual-threshold frontal airbag system for the driver and front seat passenger. The threshold, or minimum vehicle speed that the airbag will deploy in a collision, is dependent on whether the seat belt is buckled; deploying at a lower speed if the seat belt is not buckled.

The harness to the front passenger's seat belt buckle has been miswired, signaling the SRS that the seat belt is buckled when it isn't, and that the seat belt is not buckled when it is. This will affect the passenger's airbag deployment threshold in a low-speed collision. In a moderate to high-speed collision, the airbag will work as designed.
