Front Seat

Front Seat Removal/Installation

Special Tools Required
KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 *
* Available through the American Honda Tool and Equipment Program

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations for the appropriate model:
- '03 model
- '04-06 models

Also review the precautions and procedures before performing repairs or service.

NOTE:
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
- Take care not to scratch the body or tear the seat covers.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.

1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio and the navigation system, and then write down the radio station and XM radio channel presets.
2. Slide the seat all the way forward to access the rear riser cover.




3. Driver's seat: Detach the clips, then remove the rear riser cover (A).




4. Passenger's seat: Detach the clips, then remove the rear riser cover (A). The 8-way power seat is shown, the manual seat is similar.
5. Remove the passenger's seat belt lower anchor bracket.
6. Slide the seat to the rear, about halfway to access the front riser cover. If equipped with an 8-way power seat, fully raise the seat.




7. Driver's seat: Detach the clips, then remove the front riser cover (A).




8. Passenger's seat: Release the tabs (A), and detach the clips, then remove the front riser cover (B).
9. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before continuing.




10. Remove the bolts securing the front seat (A).







11. Lift up the front seat, then disconnect the seat harness connector (A) and side airbag harness connector (B). On driver's seat, disconnect the seat position sensor connector (C), and if equipped, disconnect the CD changer unit connector (D). On passenger's seat, disconnect the OPDS unit harness connector (E) and the weight sensor unit connector (F), and if equipped with navigation system, disconnect the navigation unit connectors (G) and GPS antenna harness connector (H).
12. Remove the headrest.
13. With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the front seat through the front door opening.




14. Install the front seat in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Replace any damaged clips.
- Make sure the seat harness connector, side airbag connector, OPDS unit connector and weight sensor unit connector for passenger's seat, and if equipped, navigation unit connector, GPS antenna harness connector, and CD changer unit connector are plugged in properly.
- Apply liquid thread lock to the seat mounting bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the seat mounting bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown. Slide the seat all the way back and tighten (1) and (2), then slide it forward and tighten (3) and (4).
- Push the cover clips into place securely.
- Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
- Do the PCM idle learn procedure and the power window control unit reset procedure.
- Enter the anti-theft code for the radio and the navigation system, and then enter the customer's radio station presets, or XM channel presets.
