Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Memorizing the Tire Pressure Sensor IDWhen the tire pressure sensor is replaced, its ID must be memorized in the TPMS unit.
NOTE: Do not memorize the ID within approximately 3 m (9.8 ft) from another tire pressure sensor or from a vehicle mounted with the tire pressure sensors.
Memorizing ID automatically
When doing the tire rotation or replacing a tire pressure sensor with a new one which ID had never been memorized before, drive the vehicle for 40 continuous seconds (better than 40 cumulative seconds) or more at a speed of 15 mph (24 km) or more, and the ID is memorized automatically.
NOTE:
- When replacing the TPMS control unit, memorize the ID with the HDS.
- After memorizing the ID, reduce the tire pressures in all four tires. Check that all tire pressure indicators turn on when all four tire pressures are low.
Memorize the ID with the HDS
The ID of the tire pressure sensor that is new or that had been memorized before can be memorized again, and a memorized ID can be changed to an optional one.
1. With the ignition switch OFF, connect the HDS to the 16P Data Link Connector (DLC) (A) located under the left side of the dashboard.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and memorize the ID of the tire pressure sensor by following the screen prompts on the HDS.
NOTE:
- See the HDS help menu for specific instructions.
- When replacing the TPMS control unit, memorize the ID with the HDS.
- After memorizing the ID, reduce the tire pressures in all four tires. Check that all tire pressure indicators turn on when all four tire pressures are low.
