Clock Loses Time

SYMPTOM
The clock in the audio unit gradually loses time.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The audio unit's software causes the clock to lose 1.5 seconds each time the engine is started.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the audio unit.
NOTE:
American Honda's inventory of remanufactured audio units has been modified to correct this clock error.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Replace the audio unit.
^ Refer to 22-410 of the 2003-06 MDX Service Manual, or
^ Online, select the year and model, and type in the key words AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL. Click on Audio Unit Removal/Installation (With Rear Entertainment System).
NOTE:
It is not necessary to disconnect the battery cables when doing this procedure provided the ignition switch is completely turned off and the key is removed. If the key is left in the ignition switch and accidentally turned on, the PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF indicator in the center console will create a DTC, requiring the code to be cleared.
