Power Locks: Description and Operation

How the Circuit Works

Power Supply
With the ignition switch in the ON (II) or START (III) position, battery voltage is supplied through fuse 10 to the MICU. Fuse 10 and the MICU are located in the under-dash fuse/relay box.

Fuse 25 (in the under-dash fuse/relay box) is hot at all times and supplies power to the MICU.

Door Locks (Key Operation)
Inserting the key into the driver's door key cylinder switch and turning the key one time will command the MICU to unlock the driver's door. Turning the key a second time will command the MICU to unlock the front passenger's door and the rear doors.

Door Locks (Keyless Transmitter Operation)
The doors can be locked or unlocked from the hand-held keyless transmitter.

All lock and unlock commands from the keyless transmitter are received by the Immobilizer-Keyless Control Unit. The Immobilizer-Keyless Control unit communicates with the MICU via the B-CAN communication line.

According to the request, the MICU directly operates the power supply and grounding signals to the reversible electric door lock motors for lock and unlock modes.

Pressing the UNLOCK button one time will unlock the driver's door. Pressing the UNLOCK button a second time will unlock the front passenger's door and the rear doors.

Pressing the LOCK button will lock the driver's door, front passenger's door and the rear doors.

Panic Mode
Pressing and holding the PANIC button on the keyless transmitter for 2 seconds will activate the panic mode feature.

The panic mode command from the keyless transmitter is received by the Immobilizer-Keyless Control Unit. The Immobilizer-Keyless Control unit communicates with the MICU via the B-CAN communication line.

According to the request, the MICU directly operates the horn and flashes the exterior lights for approximately 20 seconds.

The panic mode can be cancelled by pressing any button on the keyless transmitter, or by turning the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.

If the ignition switch is in the ON (II) position, the panic mode cannot be activated.

Security System
The security system monitors the following signals:
- Audio Unit
- Door Lock Knob Switches
- Door Switches
- Ignition Key Switch
- Navigation Display Unit (Technology Package)
- Security Hood Switch
- Tailgate Latch Switch

The security system will arm automatically when the tailgate and hood are closed, the key is removed from the ignition switch, and the doors are closed and locked. After the security indicator (located in the Gauge Control Module) flashes for 15 seconds, the system will arm.

When the security system is activated, the MICU directly operates the horn and flashes the exterior lights for 2 minutes.

The security system can be disarmed by inserting the key into the driver's door key cylinder switch and unlocking the door, or by pressing the UNLOCK button on the keyless transmitter.
