Front subframe adapter VSB02C000016
(Available through American Honda Tool and Equipment Program, 1-888-424-6857)
1. If the engine is out of the vehicle, go to step 14.
2. Raise the vehicle on the lift to full height.
3. Drain the engine oil.
4. Remove the front wheels.
5. Remove the splash shield.
6. Remove a bolt securing the P/S fluid line bracket, and unclamp the P/S fluid line clamps on the front subframe.
7. Remove the bolts securing the steering gearbox mounting brackets.
8. Remove the two bolts at the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) front joint.
9. Remove the lower torque rod.
10. Attach the subframe adapter (A) to the subframe and hang the belt of the subframe adapter over the front of the subframe, then secure the belt with its stop.
11. Raise the jack and line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, then attach them with bolts securely.
12. Remove the 12 x 1.25 mm bolts (A) and 14 x 1.5 mm bolts (B), then loosen the 14 x 1.5 mm bolts (C) on the subframe so they are about 30 mm (1.2 in.) from the mounting surface.
13. Remove the subframe adapter.
14. Remove the lower torque rod bracket.
15. Remove the torque converter cover (A) and transmission mounting bolts (B).
16. Remove the bolts securing the oil pan.
17. Using a flat blade screwdriver, separate the oil pan from the block in the places shown.
