Mirrors - Rt. Power Mirror Inoperative

Right Power Mirror Doesn't Work

NOTE:
This article applies to '07 RDXs from VIN 5J8TB1...7A000001 thru 5J8TB1...7A002335. Got a '07 RDX in your shop with a right power mirror that's got any or all of these symptoms:

^ The mirror doesn't work at all.

^ The mirror doesn't tilt down when you move the shift lever to R.

^ The mirror heater doesn't work.

A loose connector or a bad power mirror control unit could be the culprit.

To fix this problem, follow these steps:

1. Turn the lock knob 90 degrees clockwise on the driver's dashboard undercover. Gently pull down on the right edge of the cover to release its two clips, then remove the undercover.

2. Reach behind the driver's under-dash fuse box, and locate the power mirror control unit with your fingers. (The power mirror control unit is a black plastic box about 4 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. It's mounted to the back of the fuse box.)

3. Use your thumb to release the clip on the back of the control unit, then slide the control unit up to remove it from the fuse box.

4. Unplug the 24P connector from the control unit.

5. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to make sure they're making good contact.

^ If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as needed, then plug in the 24P connector, and check power mirror operation.

- If the power mirror now works properly, go to step 7.

- If the power mirror still doesn't work, go to step 6.

^ If the terminals look OK, go to step 6.

6. Replace the power mirror control unit with a new one (P/N 38850-STK-A01), and plug in the 24P connector.

7. Position the power mirror control unit on the driver's under-dash fuse box, and slide it down until it clicks into place.

8. Check the condition of the two clips on the driver's dashboard undercover. If either clip is damaged or stress-whitened, replace it.

9. Position the undercover to line up with the opening under the dashboard, then push the two clips firmly into place. Turn the lock knob 90 degrees counterclockwise.

10. Check the right power mirror to make sure it works properly.
