DTC P0045: Turbocharger Boost Control Solenoid Valve Circuit Malfunction

General Description
The turbocharger boost control solenoid valve is connected between the positive pressure duct in the turbocharger boost control actuator of the turbocharger.

The powertrain control module (PCM) adjusts the positive pressure applied to the turbocharger boost control actuator with the linear solenoid. As a result, the speed of the compressor becomes variable to control the boost pressure to the intake manifold.

When the return signal does not change as set by the output of the turbocharger boost control solenoid valve, and this condition continues for a set time or more, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
When the return signal does not change as set by the output of the turbocharger boost control solenoid valve, and this condition continues for at least 2 seconds.
When duty is between 98 % and 2 %, and there is no return signal for 2 seconds or more continuously.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for illuminating the MIL
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the MIL

The MIL will be cleared if the malfunction does not recur during three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs.
The MIL, the DTC, and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
