Front Seat Frame Replacement - Driver's Seat

Special Tools Required

- KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014

Driver's Seat

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.

Check the operation of the driver's seat position sensor after any of these actions ODS Unit Operation Check:

- Driver's seat position sensor replacement
- Cover plate (front side of driver's seat slide rail) replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- Use the appropriate tool from KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
- If the side airbag has deployed, replace the seat frame and related parts with new ones Service and Repair.

1. Remove the front seat Front Seat Removal/Installation.

2. Remove these items:

- Front seat-back cover/pad Front Seat-back Cover/Pad Replacement
- Front seat cushion cover/pad Front Seat Cushion Cover/Pad Replacement
- Seat belt buckle Front Seat Belt Replacement
- Side airbag Side Airbag Replacement

3. Detach the clips (A, B), then remove the upper rail outer cover (C).






4. Detach the clip, then remove the upper rail inner cover (A).






5. Remove the recline inner cover (A) and the center inner cover (B) from the seat frame (C).






Lumbar support removal

6. Remove the cable band (A) fastening the lumbar support cable (B).






7. Release the upper wire (A) from both the seat-back side frames (B) of inside the seat-back.






8. Release the lower wire (A) from both active head restraint links (B) of inside the seat-back.






9. Remove the lumbar support motor cover (A).

1. Release the cover from the lower hooks (B).

2. Pull the cover upward to release it from the upper hook (C).





10. Disconnect the lumbar support motor connector (A), and detach the harness clip (B). Remove the nuts, then remove the lumbar support motor (C).

NOTE: Take care not to kink the cable.






Slide motor removal

11. Remove the flex cable (A) and the cable housing (B).

1. Release the housing from the hooks (C).

2. Disconnect the cable from the worm gear (D) in the inner seat track by pulling out the housing.

3. Disconnect the cable from the slide motor (E).

NOTE: Take care not to kink the cable.





12. Disconnect the slide motor connector (A), and detach the harness clip (B). Remove the bolts securing the slide motor bracket (C) using a TORX T30 bit.






13. Remove the slide motor bracket (A) from the slide gearbox bracket by pulling out the inner side of the slide motor bracket, and disconnect the slide motor (B) from the short flex cable (C) by pulling out the bracket.






14. Pull out the short flex cable (A) from the worm gear (B) in the outer seat track.






15. Remove the screws, then remove the slide motor (A) from the slide motor bracket (B).

NOTE:

- Apply multipurpose grease to the worm gear portions in both seat tracks.
- Install the short flex cable to the slide motor, before installing the slide motor to the slide motor bracket.
- Make sure the short flex cable and the flex cable are connected properly.





16. Install the new seat frame in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips into place securely.
- Make sure the connector is plugged in properly.
- Check the front seat slide, up-down, recline, lumbar support operation.
- To prevent wrinkles when installing a seat-back cover, make sure the material is stretched evenly over the pad before securing the hook strips.
