Wiper Motor Test




Wiper Motor Test

Windshield

1. Remove the wiper arms Wiper Motor Replacement.

NOTE: Carefully remove the wiper arms so that they do not touch the hood.

2. Remove the cowl cover Service and Repair.

3. Disconnect the 4Pconnector (A) from the windshield wiper motor (B).





4. Test the motor by connecting battery power to terminal No. 2and ground to terminal No. 1of the windshield wiper motor 4Pconnector. The motor should run at low speed. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the motor Wiper Motor Replacement.

5. Test the motor by connecting battery power to terminal No. 4and ground to terminal No. 2of the windshield wiper motor 4Pconnector. The motor should run at high speed. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the motor Wiper Motor Replacement.

6. Connect an analog ohmmeter to terminals No. 3 and No. 1, and run the motor at low speed (repeat step 4). The needle of the ohmmeter should pulse. If it does not, replace the motor Wiper Motor Replacement.

7. After the installation, adjust the wiper arm Adjustments.

Rear Window

NOTE: If the rear window wiper malfunctions, and no DTCs are detected, test the rear window wiper motor as described below, and check for an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the rear window wiper B1028.

1. Remove the rear wiper arm Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement.

2. Open the tailgate, and remove the tailgate lower trim panel .

3. Disconnect the 4P connector (A) from the motor (B).





4. Test the motor by connecting battery power to terminal No. 1 and ground to terminal No. 3 of 4P connector. The motor should run. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the rear window wiper motor Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement.

5. Connect an analog ohmmeter to terminals No. 2 and No. 3, and run the motor (repeat step 4). The needle of the ohmmeter should pulse.

6. If the motor test is not as specified, replace the rear window wiper motor Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement.

7. After the installation, adjust the wiper arm Adjustments.
