DTC Troubleshooting: B2188
DTC B2188:
UART Communication Error 2 (Driver's MPCS Unit from other node)
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.
1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
3. Open and close the driver's and front passenger's power windows by using the power window master switch manually.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B2188 indicated?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.�
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Disconnect driver's MPCS unit connector A (40P).
7. Disconnect front passenger's MPCS unit connector A (28P).
8. Check for continuity between driver's MPCS unit connector A (40P) terminal No. 8 and front passenger's MPCS unit connector A (28P) terminal No. 4.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Substitute a known-good driver's MPCS unit and recheck. If the DTC goes away, replace the original driver's MPCS unit. If the DTC is still present, replace the front passenger's MPCS unit.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire.�
