Navigation System DTC Troubleshooting: 1801

DTC 1801:

HIP Error

With AcuraLink

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- This navigation DTC sets when a problem (open or short) is detected in the COMM BUS.
- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the general troubleshooting information How to Troubleshoot the Navigation System.
- Check for and resolve any B-CAN DTCs before troubleshooting.
- Check any official Honda service website for any service information about the AcuraLink.

1. Clear the hard error code.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).

3. Go into the Diagnostic Menu, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode in the Select Diagnosis Items menu Navigation System Diagnostic Mode.

4. Check the System Links.

Is the XM (HIP) icon red?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Check the System Links.

Is the HFL icon red?

YES -

Do the DTC 2705 troubleshooting 2705.�

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.�

6. Select the XM (HIP), then check the XM (HIP) System Link.

Are the XM (HIP).ECU and Navi icons red?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

Do the DTC 2704 troubleshooting 2704.�

7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

8. Connect the HDS to the DLC How to Troubleshoot the AcuraLink.

9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

10. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are any AcuraLink DTCs indicated?

YES -

Do the AcuraLink DTCs troubleshooting.�

NO -

Go to step 11.

11. Do the B-CAN test mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A, and check the communication with the AcuraLink control unit.

Does the AcuraLink control unit communicate with the HDS?

YES -

Go to step 12.

NO -

Go to the AcuraLink control unit troubleshooting.�

12. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

13. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and audio-navigation unit connector C (28P).

14. Check for continuity between body ground and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No. 17, No. 18, No. 19, and No. 20 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 15.

15. Check for continuity between the terminals of AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 16.

16. Connect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No. 17, No. 18, No. 19, and No. 20 to body ground with jumper wires.






17. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-navigation unit connector C (28P) terminals No. 9, No. 10, No. 22, and No. 23 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Replace the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver).� AcuraLink Control Unit (XM Receiver) Removal/Installation

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
