SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 73-14

DTC 73-14:

Short to Ground in the Driver's E-pretensioner Motor

NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair and General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

3. A function test for "E-pretensioner forcible operation at the time of a CMS operation" is carried out with the HDS.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 73-14 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.�

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Disconnect the floor wire harness 2P connector from the driver's E-pretensioner motor Front Seat Belt Replacement.

7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

9. A function test for "E-pretensioner forcible operation at the time of a CMS operation" is carried out with the HDS.

10. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 73-14 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 11.

NO -

Faulty driver's E-pretensioner motor; replace the driver's seat belt Front Seat Belt Replacement.�

11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

12. Disconnect E-pretensioner unit connector A (5P) from the E-pretensioner unit Removal and Replacement.

13. Measure the resistance between body ground and floor wire harness 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 individually. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.





Is the resistance as specified?

YES -

Replace the E-pretensioner unit Removal and Replacement, then clear the DTC.�

NO -

Short in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.�
