DTC Troubleshooting: U128F

DTC U128F:

Gauge Control Module Lost Communication with BSI Control Unit (BSI Message)

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).

3. Wait for at least 6 seconds.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC U128F indicated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections between the BSI control unit and the gauge control module.�

5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are DTCs B1155, B1156, B1157, B1158, B1159, B1162, B1180, and/or B1182 also indicated?

YES -

Do the gauge control module input test Gauge Control Module Input Test.�

NO -

Substitute a known-good BSI control unit BSI Control Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the indication goes away, replace the original BSI control unit BSI Control Unit Removal/Installation.�
