HandsFreeLink System Symptom Troubleshooting - Bluetooth cell phone cannot be paired

Bluetooth cell phone cannot be paired (with navigation)

NOTE:

- Before doing this troubleshooting, refer to General Troubleshooting Information Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview to make sure the phone is compatible and configured correctly. You can also check online at www.acura.com/handsfreelink, or call the HFL support desk at 888-528-7876.
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- When six devices are already registered, delete a device before pairing another one.
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the HFL system.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Press the TALK button.

Does a beep sound?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Go to step 6.

3. Go to www.acura.com/handsfreelink and make sure the phone is compatible for Bluetooth audio and properly configured. Once the issue is confirmed, call 888-528-7876 to make sure there are no known issues for the cell phone.

4. If you have the client's phone, go to step 5. Otherwise, pair a known-good cell phone to the client's vehicle.

Can you pair the Bluetooth phone, and does it operate normally?

YES -

The client's Bluetooth phone is defective or not compatible.�

NO -

Go to step 6.

5. Pair the client's phone to a known-good vehicle.

Can you pair the Bluetooth phone, and does it operate normally?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

The client's Bluetooth phone is defective or not compatible.�

6. Connect the HDS to the DLC. Check for HFL DTCs.

Is there any DTCs indicated?

YES -

Go to HFL DTC troubleshooting.�

NO -

Go to symptom troubleshooting Voice control does not work/respond Symptom Troubleshootingor HFL switch test HFL Switch Test.�
