Engine Installation




Engine Installation

Special Tools Required

- Engine Hanger Adapter Set VSB02C000031
- Engine Hanger Balance Bar VSB02C000019
- Engine Support Hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256
- Front Subframe Adapter EQS02BMDXSB0
- Subframe Alignment Pin 070AG-SJAA10S

1. Install the engine mount bracket and accessory brackets, and tighten their bolts to the specified torque.






2. Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission. Support the engine/transmission with a chain hoist (A), and carefully raise the engine/transmission into place.

NOTE: Reinstall the mounting bolts/support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.






3. Remove the service caps (A) for the front damper flange nuts from the cowl cover (B). Position the engine hanger adapter set (VSB02C000031) with the FRONT mark facing forward over the damper flange nuts.






4. Install the engine hanger balance bar (VSB02C000019). Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with a several spacer (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C), attach the rear arm (D) to the rear cylinder head with an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (E).





5. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (F) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

NOTE:

- Be careful when working around the windshield.
- Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.
- AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking additional cross section bar.

6. Install the new side engine mount bracket mounting bolts (A) into the upper half of the side engine mount bracket. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.





7. Remove the chain hoist, then raise the vehicle on the lift.

8. Using the subframe adapter (EQS02BMDXSB0) and a jack, raise the front subframe up to the body.





9. Loosely install the new front subframe mounting bolts (four) (A), the 12 x 1.25 mm bolts (six) (B) (C), and the stiffeners (D).

10. Loosely tighten the right rear subframe mounting bolt (A); insert the subframe alignment pin (070AG-SJAA10S) through the positioning hole (B) on the rear stiffener, through the positioning hole (C) on the subframe, and into the positioning hole (D) on the body, then tighten the right rear subframe mounting bolt.





11. Loosely tighten the left rear subframe mounting bolt with the same procedure as right rear using the subframe alignment pin.

12. Loosely tighten the right and left front subframe mounting bolts and stiffener mounting bolts.

13. Tighten the right rear subframe mounting bolt to the specified torque.

14. Tighten the left rear subframe mounting bolt to the specified torque.

15. Tighten the right and left front subframe mounting bolts to the specified torque.

NOTE: Check all of the front subframe mounting bolts, and retighten if necessary.

16. Tighten the rear and front stiffener mounting bolts to the specified torque.

NOTE: Before tightening the stiffener mounting bolts, check that the positioning holes and slot are aligned using the subframe positioning pin.

17. Remove the jack and the front subframe adapter.

18. Tighten the lower transmission mount mounting bolts (A) and the ground cable (B).






19. Tighten the rear engine mount base mounting bolts (A).






20. Tighten the front mount bolts (A), then connect the front engine mount control solenoid valve hose (B).





21. Lower the vehicle on the lift.

22. Loosen the side engine mount bracket mounting bolts (A) for the upper half of the side engine mount bracket, then retighten them to the specified torque.





23. Remove the engine support hanger and the engine hanger balance bar, and the engine hanger adapter set, then install the service caps to the cowl cover.

24. Install the A/C compressor (A), then connect the A/C compressor clutch connector (B).





25. Install the radiator Service and Repair.

26. Raise the vehicle on the lift.

27. Connect the power steering hose (A).






28. Connect the power steering pressure switch connector.





29. Install the transfer assembly Transfer Assembly Installation.

30. Install the propeller shaft Propeller Shaft Installation.

31. Wipe the driveshaft clean. Install a new set ring on the end of each driveshaft, then install the driveshafts Front Driveshaft Installation. Make sure each ring "clicks" into place in the differential and intermediate shaft.

32. Connect the suspension lower arms to the knuckles.

33. Connect the tie-rod end ball joints to the knuckles.

34. Connect the stabilizer links to the dampers Front Stabilizer Link Removal/Installation.

35. Install exhaust pipe A using new gaskets (B) and new self-locking nuts (C).






36. With active damper system/With headlight leveling system left side: Connect the front suspension stroke sensor connectors (A), then install the harness clamps (B).






37. Install the front subframe stiffener using new bolts.






38. Install the splash shield.





39. Install the front wheels.

40. Lower the vehicle on the lift.

41. Connect the upper radiator hose (A) and the lower radiator hose (B).






42. Connect the heater hoses (A).






43. Install the ATF cooler hoses (A) to the transmission, and secure the hoses with the clamps.

NOTE: Check the installation location of the clamps Service and Repair.






44. Install the connector bracket (A) to the front cylinder head.






45. Install the engine mount control solenoid valve bracket (A) to the rear cylinder head.






46. Connect the power steering pump outlet hose (A) with a new O-ring (B), and connect the power steering pump inlet hose (C).





47. Install the power steering hose clamp (D) to the rear cylinder head cover.

48. Install the drive belt Service and Repair.

49. Connect the PCM connectors Service and Repair.

50. Install the PCM cover Service and Repair.

51. Install the coolant reservoir to the bracket.

52. Align the reference mark (A) on the steering joint (B) and the steering gearbox pinion shaft (C). Connect the steering joint to the steering gearbox pinion shaft. Tighten the steering joint bolt (D).





53. Install the steering joint cover (E).

54. Remove the steering wheel holder tool.

55. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (A), the EVAP canister hose (B).





56. Connect the EVAP canister purge valve connector (C).

57. Connect the fuel feed hose (A) Fuel Line/Quick-Connect Fitting Installation, then install the quick-connect fitting cover (B).





58. Install the shift cable Service and Repair.

59. Install the battery base (A), then install the harness clamps (B).






60. Install the harness clamp (A), then install the main under-hood fuse box (B).






61. Connect the positive alternator cable (A) to the main under-hood fuse box.





62. Install the air cleaner Service and Repair.

63. Install the intake air duct (A), then install the breather pipe (B).






64. Install the engine cover.






65. Install the bulkhead cover Front Bulkhead Cover Replacement.

66. Install the service caps on the cowl cover.

67. Do the battery installation procedure Removal and Replacement.

68. Refill the engine with engine oil.

69. Refill the transmission with ATF ATF Replacement.

70. Install the return hose to the power steering fluid reservoir. Refill the power steering system fluid Testing and Inspection.

71. Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.

72. Inspect for fuel leaks. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II) (do not operate the starter) so the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds and pressurizes the fuel line. Repeat this operation three times, then check for fuel leaks at any point in the fuel line.

73. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open.

74. Check for fluid leaks.

75. Do the PCM reset procedure Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

76. Do the PCM idle learn procedure Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

77. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure.

78. Inspect the idle speed Testing and Inspection.

79. Inspect the ignition timing Testing and Inspection.

80. Check the wheel alignment Service and Repair.

81. With headlight leveling system: Do the headlight initial position learning procedure Programming and Relearning.

82. With ACC system: Aim the millimeter wave radar Adjustments.
