Warm Up TWC Removal/Installation

FRONT (Bank 2)

NOTE: If the warm up TWC is damaged internally, inspect the under floor TWC for debris.

1. Remove the engine cover.

2. Remove the No. 5 ignition coil and the ignition coil heat insulator.

3. Remove the front A/F sensor (Sensor 1) A/F Sensor Replacement and the front secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) Secondary HO2S Replacement.

4. Remove the exhaust pipe A mounting nuts (front WU-TWC side) Service and Repair.

5. Remove the EGR pipe Service and Repair.

6. Remove the A/C condenser fan assembly Service and Repair.

NOTE: Place an appropriate size piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. The cardboard protects the radiator from damage when removing the warm up TWC.

7. Remove the front WU-TWC bracket, and carefully remove the front WU-TWC.






8. Carefully install the front WU-TWC with a new gasket and new self-locking nuts. Tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern in two or three steps.

9. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

REAR (Bank 1)

NOTE: If the warm up TWC is damaged internally, inspect the under floor TWC for debris.

1. Remove the rear A/F sensor (Sensor 1) A/F Sensor Replacement and the rear secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) Secondary HO2S Replacement.

2. Remove exhaust pipe A Service and Repair, then remove the rear WU-TWC bracket.

3. Remove the intermediate shaft Intermediate Shaft Removal.

4. Carefully remove the rear WU-TWC.






5. Carefully install the rear WU-TWC with a new gasket and new self-locking nuts. Tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern in two or three steps.

6. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
