Rear Differential Removal
Special Tools Required
- Driveshaft Remover 07AAD-S3VA000
1. Raise and support the vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Drain the rear differential fluid.
3. Remove the spare tire.
4. Remove the rear wheels.
5. Remove the muffler (A).
6. Remove the right rear driveshaft Rear Driveshaft Removal.
7. Make reference marks (A) across the propeller shaft (B) and the rear differential companion flange (C). Separate the propeller shaft from the rear differential.
NOTE: Suspend the propeller shaft with an appropriate size nylon strap.
8. Place a transmission jack (A) under the rear differential (B).
9. Disconnect the left rear driveshaft inboard joint (C) from the rear differential using the driveshaft remover (D) and a hammer.
10. Remove the rear differential rear mount bolts (E) and the rear differential front mounting bracket bolts (F).
11. Lower the rear differential a little on the transmission jack, then remove the left rear driveshaft inboard joint from the rear differential.
NOTE: Make sure not to over extend the wire harness and the breather hose.
12. Disconnect the right solenoid 4P connector (A) and the rear differential fluid temperature sensor 2P connector (B), then remove the harness clips (C).
13. Disconnect the breather hose (D) from the breather pipe (E).
14. Lower the rear differential slightly on the transmission jack.
NOTE: Make sure not to over extend the wire harness.
15. Disconnect the left solenoid 4P connector (A), then remove the harness clips (B).
16. Disconnect the ground cable (C) from the rear differential.
17. Lower the rear differential on the transmission jack.
18. Remove the set ring (A) from the rear differential left side.
