DTC Troubleshooting: B1837

DTC B1837:

Memory Position Calling Time-out

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

3. Move both mirrors to the full up and full left positions with the power mirror switch.

4. Move the power seat to the full front up and full rear up positions, then slide the seat all the way back and completely recline the seat-back rearward with the power seat adjustment switch.

5. Set the seating position into memory by pressing either the Driver 1 or the Driver 2 position memory switch.

6. Using the power seat switches, move the seat away from the positions just memorized.

7. Recall the memory positions with the driving position memory switch.

8. Wait for at least 3 minutes.

9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1837 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections at each DPMS connector.

10. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are any DTCs other than B1837 indicated?

YES -

Go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.

NO -

Go to step 11.

11. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

12. Wait for at least 120 seconds.

13. Move the motors shown one at a time, and check their operation.

- Power mirror actuator (up, down, left, right)
- Power seat motor (slide forward/rearward, recline forward/rearward, front up-down, rear up-down)

Does any motor fail to run smoothly?

YES -

Go to the failed motor test:

- Power mirror actuator test Power Mirror Actuator Test.
- Power seat motor test Driver's Power Seat Motor Test.

If the motor is OK, check the engagement of the motor gear.

NO -

Go to the power seat control unit input test Testing and Inspection.
