DTC Troubleshooting: P16DF

DTC P16DF:

Electric Vacuum Pump Relays 1/2 Signal Circuit Malfunction (Short)

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

2. Remove the No. 31 (7.5 A) fuse from the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box.

3. Short the SCS line with the HDS.

4. Disconnect PCM connector B (44P) Service and Repair.

5. Measure the resistance between the No. 31 (7.5 A) fuse in auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box terminal No. 2 and PCM connector B (44P) terminal No. 29.





Is there about 47 Ohms?

YES -

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM, then go to step 1 and recheck. If no DTCs are indicated, and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM Service and Repair.

NO -

Go to step 6.

6. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector R (20P).

7. Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector R (20P) terminals No. 4 and No. 5.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short in the wires between the No. 31 (7.5 A) fuse in the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box and the PCM.

NO -

Replace the under-dash fuse/ relay box (MICU) Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation.
