DTC Troubleshooting: P2199 (125)

DTC P2199:

IAT Sensor 1, 2 Incorrect Correlation

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

2. Remove MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1 MAF Sensor/IAT Sensor 1 Replacement.

3. Remove IAT sensor 2 IAT Sensor 2 Replacement.

4. Cool the sensors to ambient temperature.

5. Note the ambient temperature.

6. Connect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1 5P connector and the IAT sensor 2 2P connector.

7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

8. Note the value of IAT SENSOR 1 and IAT SENSOR 2 quickly in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

9. Compare the value of IAT SENSOR 1 and IAT SENSOR 2 to the ambient temperature.

Does the value of IAT SENSOR 1 or IAT SENSOR 2 differ 34 °F (19 °C) or more from the ambient temperature?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at IAT sensor 1, IAT sensor 2, and the PCM.

10. Replace the sensor that differed more than 34 °F (19 °C) from the ambient temperature.

- MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1 MAF Sensor/IAT Sensor 1 Replacement
- IAT sensor 2 IAT Sensor 2 Replacement

11. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

12. Reset the PCM with the HDS.

13. Do the PCM idle learn procedure PCM Idle Learn Procedure.

14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

15. Open the hood, and let the engine cool for more than 6 hours.

16. Start the engine, and let it idle.

17. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P2199 indicated?

YES -

Check for poor connections or loose terminals at IAT sensor 1, IAT sensor 2, and the PCM, then go to step 1.

NO -

Go to step 18.

18. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2199 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the HDS indicate PASSED?

YES -

Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated in step 17, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

NO -

If the HDS indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at IAT sensor 1, IAT sensor 2, and the PCM, then go to step 1. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 14.
