Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Error code: XM NO SIGNAL is displayed
Error code: XM NO SIGNAL is displayed
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Park the vehicle outside with a clear view of the southern horizon.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Check for other XM error codes.
Are there other XM error codes displayed?
YES -
Go to error codes.
NO -
Go to step 4.
4. Turn on the audio system, and press the XM button to select XM radio.
Does the XM radio receive a signal?
YES -
Reception interference operation is normal.
NO -
- With AcuraLink: Go to step 5.
- Without AcuraLink: Go to step 13.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Check the AM/FM/XM antenna connector B (2P) and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector B (2P).
Are the connectors connected properly?
YES -
Go to step 7.
NO -
Reconnect the AM/FM/XM antenna 2P connector and AcuraLink control unit connector C (2P) connector, and recheck XM radio operation. If the signal is restored, the system is OK. If the signal is not restored, go to step 7.
7. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the No. 23 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (20P) terminal No. 1.
8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
9. Measure the voltage between body ground and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No. 2 and No. 3 individually.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire(s) between the No. 10 (7.5 A)fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 2, or repair an open in the wire between the No. 35 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 3.
10. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 28 and body ground.
Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES -
Go to step 11.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 28 and body ground (G505).
11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
12. Substitute a known-good AM/FM/XM antenna AM/FM/XM Antenna Replacement.
Does the original XM radio receive a signal?
YES -
Replace the original XM antenna AM/FM/XM Antenna Replacement.
NO -
Substitute a known-good AM/FM/XM antenna AM/FM/XM Antenna Replacement. If the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) receives signal, replace the original AM/FM/XM antenna AM/FM/XM Antenna Replacement. If the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) does not receive signal, substitute a known-good AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) AcuraLink Control Unit-XM Receiver Removal/Installation.
13. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
14. Check the connection at XM receiver connector B (2P).
Is the connector connected properly?
YES -
Go to step 15.
NO -
Reconnect the connector, and recheck XM radio operation. If the signal is restored, the system is OK. If the signal is not restored, go to step 15.
15. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
16. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 17.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.
17. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 18.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between audio unit and the XM receiver.
18. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.
Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES -
Go to step 19.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.
19. Substitute a known-good AM/FM/XM antenna AM/FM/XM Antenna Replacement.
Does the XM radio receive a signal?
YES -
Replace the original AM/FM/XM antenna AM/FM/XM Antenna Replacement.
NO -
Substitute a known-good XM antenna lead, and recheck. If the If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the original XM receiver XM Receiver Removal / Installation.
