Torque Converter Vibration

SYMPTOM

The car vibrates or shudders between 30 and 45 mph under light throttle pressure.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Flush and refill the transmission with the Honda ATF listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

1. Block the rear wheels and set the parking brake. Raise the front of the car and support it with safety stands.

2. Drain the transmission.

3. Refill the transmission with three quarts of Honda ATF.

4. Start the engine and shift the transmission to D4.

5. Raise the engine speed and let the transmission shift through the gears at least five times.

6. Shift to reverse and neutral at least five times.

7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 (drain, refill, run through the gears) two more times.

8. Drain the transmission. Reinstall the drain plug with a new aluminum washer (see PARTS INFORMATION). Refill the transmission to the proper level.

Honda ATF (quart bottle): P/N 08206-9001

Aluminum washer: P/N 94109-14000

NOTE: A total of 13 quarts are required to flush and refill the transmission.

Out-of-warranty: Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Service Manager. You must request consideration, and get the DSM's decision, before starting work.
