Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection
1. Place ignition switch in the off position, then disconnect main relay electrical connector from behind fuse box.
2. Connect jumper wire between relay harness connector terminals as follows:
a. Integra: yellow wire terminal and black/yellow wire terminal.
b. Legend: black/yellow wire terminal and black/yellow wire terminal.
3. Relieve fuel pressure, refer to ``Relieving System Fuel Pressure'' procedure.
4. Disconnect fuel return pipe from regulator and place end of hose in suitable container.
5. Turn ignition switch on for 10 seconds, then measure amount of fuel collected in container. Fuel flow should be 7.8 oz. in 10 seconds at 12 volts.
6. If fuel flow is less than 7.8 oz. or there is no fuel flow, proceed as follows:
a. Check for clogged fuel filter.
b. Check for clogged fuel line.
c. Check for defective pressure regulator.
d. If defective fuel pump is suspected, proceed to step 7.
7. Ensure fuel pump actually runs and makes a noise when on. If fuel pump does not make a noise when on, proceed as follows:
a. Raise and support vehicle.
b. Remove fuel pump cover, then disconnect fuel pump electrical connectors. Ensure ignition switch is off before disconnecting the electrical connectors.
c. Check for battery voltage at fuel pump electrical connectors with ignition switch in the On position.
d. If battery voltage is present, replace fuel pump. If no voltage is present, check main relay and wire harness.
