RECALL: Airbag Module
PROBLEM
Honda Motor Co. Ltd. has determined, based on advice from TRW, its airbag module manufacturer, that certain airbag modules are defective and the initiator housing may separate from the adaptor during deployment. If this occurs, the airbag will not inflate properly during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. In addition, the escaping hot gases could cause burns.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
All owners of affected cars will be notified of this recall by mail and to the extent possible by phone. Owners will be asked to contact their nearest Acura dealer for replacement of the airbag module.

PARTS STOCK AFFECTED
Three defective Legend airbag modules, two 1989 models and one 1990 model, were sold as replacement parts between February, 1989 and September, 1990. The part numbers, inflator numbers, and bar code numbers for these modules are listed.
Check your parts stock and your parts and service records. If your records indicate you have sold or installed any of these part numbers, have the customer bring the car in for an airbag inspection. If the inflator/bar code number of the airbag matches one of those above, contact Acura Customer Relations immediately to arrange for a replacement airbag module.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Replace the airbag module as described in the Steering section of the service manual.
NOTE:
Be sure you replace the Torx bolts that secure the airbag to the steering wheel.
2. Center punch an update completion mark on the firewall above the last character of the Vehicle Identification Number.
