SYMPTOM
The power seat memory does not recall the original positions, or the memorized positions are completely lost.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The power seat memory stores extra pulses whenever the ignition switch is turned on or off. These extra pulses alter the stored seat positions.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the power seat control unit with the appropriate updated unit listed under PARTS INFORMATION.
1. Move the seat backward. Remove the front seat track covers and mounting bolts.
2. Move the seat forward. Remove the rear seat track covers and mounting bolts.
3. Lift up the front of the seat and support it with a 10 in. piece of wood.
4. Remove the four control unit mounting bolts. Disconnect the five electrical connectors and remove the control unit.
5. Connect the electrical connectors to the new control unit. Install the four mounting bolts and tighten them securely.
6. Install the four seat track mounting bolts, tighten them to 35 N-m (3.4 kg-m, 25 lb.ft.). Install the seat track covers.
7. Move the seat bottom and seat-back through their full range to make sure they do not bind.
