Transmission Mount Replacement

SYMPTOM

The customer may describe one or more of these symptoms:

Automatic Transmission:

^ Harsh shifting

^ Harsh engagement to reverse

^ Harsh engagement to drive

^ Engine/transmission vibration

^ Excessive engine noise

^ Clunk/noise when cornering

^ Clunk/noise when accelerating or decelerating

Manual Transmission:

^ Vehicle pops out of gear

^ Difficult to engage gears

^ Engine/transmission vibration

^ Excessive engine noise

^ Clunk/noise when cornering

^ Clunk/noise when accelerating or decelerating

PROBABLE CAUSE

The transmission mount material is deteriorated or torn, reducing the isolation of vibration and shock.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the transmission mount as described in the appropriate section of the service manual. Use the improved part listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

Test drive the vehicle to determine whether the symptom has disappeared. If the symptom persists, continue troubleshooting.
