High Frequency Hum or Silence in DSP Mode


SYMPTOM

A high-pitched hum or no sound at all when operating the audio system in the DSP mode. This may be an intermittent symptom.


PROBABLE CAUSE

The DSP circuit is affected by heat. The DSP function returns to normal when the internal temperature falls to below 140 degrees F, or when the DSP function is turned off.


CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the audio system according to the procedures in Service Bulletin 87-015.
