Horn: Description and Operation

WARNING

^ Do not use test equipment on the yellow SRS wires and connectors In the steering column, console, dashboard, and floor. You could unintentionally set off the airbags or seat belt pretensioners, which could cause Injury to you and others.

^ While working on other systems, be careful not to damage SRS wiring or components. Damage could make the airbags and seat belt pretensloners Inoperative, which could lead to the driver's or passenger's Injury or death If the car were in a severe frontal collision.


Voltage is applied at all times through fuse 39 to the horn relay. Pressing a horn button closes a horn switch and provides ground for the coil of the horn relay. This energizes the horn relay, which then applies battery voltage to the horns and the horns sound.

The horns will also sound when activated by the security system.
