Turn Signals: Description and Operation
Turn Signal OperationVoltage is applied through fuse 40 to the turn signal/hazard relay contacts and flasher at all times. With the ignition switch in RUN or START and the turn signal switch in LEFT; voltage is applied to the left control coil of the turn signal/hazard relay. The solid-state flasher provides ground for the relay coil. The coil controls the relay contacts. As the contacts open and close, the left turn signals and the left turn indicator light all flash.
Right turn operation is similar to left turn operation.
Hazard Warning Flasher Operation
With the hazard warning switch ON, voltage is applied to the turn signal/hazard relay coils, flasher, and contacts. The solid-state flasher provides ground for the relay coils. The coils control the relay contacts. As the contacts open and close, all the turn signals and both indicator lights flash.
