Voltage is provided at all times to the headlight relay and through fuse 16 to the daytime running lights unit. With the ignition switch in RUN, voltage is provided through fuse 12 to the daytime running lights unit and through fuse 13 to the DRL indicator. The daytime running lights unit grounds the headlight relay coil, energizing the headlight relay, and providing power to the headlights.

When you apply the parking brake, ground is provided to the daytime running lights unit. The unit then removes the ground from the headlight relay and the lights go off.

When you switch to high beams, ground is removed from the daytime running lights unit and applied to the headlights high beam filaments. The unit then provides power to the high beams and the high beams come on.

With the ignition switch in OFF or ACC, you can turn on all the lights with the combination switch, independently of the daytime running lights.
