Horn: Description and Operation

^ Do not use test equipment on the yellow SRS wires and connectors in the steering column, console, dashboard, and floor. You could unintentionally set off the air bag, which could cause injury to you and others.


^ While working on other systems, be careful not to damage SRS wiring or components. Damage could make the air bag(s) and seat belt pre-tensioners inoperative, which could lead to the driver's or passenger's injury or death if the car were in a severe frontal collision.

Voltage is applied at all times through fuse 39 to the horn relay. Pressing a horn button closes a horn switch and provides a ground for the coil of the horn relay. The horn relay is energized, applying battery voltage to the horns, and the horns sound.


In a similar way, the horns can also be activated by the security system.
