Trunk Lamp: Description and Operation

Ceiling Lights

Battery voltage is applied through fuse 57 at all times to the front and rear ceiling lights. The front ceiling light switch has three positions: OFF, DOOR and ON. The front switch controls both the front and rear ceiling lights.

With the switch in the "OFF" position, the front and rear ceiling lights stay off, regardless of the position of the doors.

On STD and L models, with any door open and the front ceiling light switch in the "door" position, the entry light control unit will ground the coil of the ceiling light relay. Both front and rear ceiling lights will then have a path to ground (G302) through the closed contacts of the relay, and both front and rear ceiling lights will go on.

On LS models, with any door open and the front ceiling light switch in the "door" position, the front and rear ceiling lights will be grounded through the WHT/BLK wire to the entry light control unit. Both front and rear ceiling lights will then go on.

With the front ceiling light switch in the ON position, both front and rear ceiling lights will be grounded by the BLK wire to G301 . Both front and rear ceiling lights will then go on.

Spot Lights

Battery voltage is applied through fuse 57 at all times to the front spot lights. With the light switch in PARK or HEAD, battery voltage is applied through fuse 49 to the rear spot lights. Each map light is controlled by an individual switch. Pressing a switch will provide a ground path to that spot light, causing it to come on.

Vanity Mirror Lights

With the headlight switch in PARK or HEAD, battery voltage is applied to the left and right vanity mirror light. Sliding the cover aside to expose the mirror will automatically turn on the vanity mirror light.

Trunk Light

Battery voltage is applied through fuse 57 to the trunk light at all times. With the trunk open, ground is applied to the trunk light through the closed contacts of the trunk latch switch. The trunk light will then come on.
