Keyless Entry: Description and Operation

The keyless entry system is designed to operate at a distance of less than 50 feet from the transmitter (distance may vary with conditions).

Battery voltage is applied at all times from fuse 32 through the in-line fuse to the keyless entry control unit and to the power door lock control unit. The unit is grounded at G402.

The keyless entry control unit locks or unlocks the doors and simultaneously arms or disarms the security system upon receiving an arm/disarm signal. When the panic signal is received from the transmitter, the security system will go to illegal entry mode; the horns will sound and the lights will flash.

To prevent the accidental unlocking of the doors and leaving them unlocked, the keyless entry control unit will lock the doors automatically within 10 seconds of an unlock signal if the driver's door is not opened or the key is not inserted into the ignition switch.
