Variable Valve Timing Pressure Switch: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The Variable Valve Timing Pressure Switch signals the Engine Control Module (ECM) when the Variable Valve Timing and Valve Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system has applied oil pressure to the rocker arm assembly, engaging the secondary cam rocker arms.
OPERATION
The switch normally provides continuity to ground for its blue/black striped wire when the VTEC system is not activated. When the proper operating conditions have been met, the switch removes ground from its circuit, signalling the ECM that the solenoid has allowed high pressure oil into the rocker arm assembly.
