Diagnostic Strategies
All system components should be inspected for dents, cracks, exposure to excessive heat and other damage. All SRS wiring should be checked for chaffing and interference with other vehicle components. If a vehicle has any degree of frontal body damage, dash sensors should be inspected for dents, cracks, deformation and other damage and replaced with a new unit as necessary. Dash sensors should also be checked for secure mounting. When repairing the vehicle, the system should be disarmed as outlined under Technician Safety Information. Also when performing service procedures, do not expose sensors or wiring or other SRS components to heat guns, welding or spray guns.
