REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the roof panel, and test-drive the vehicle.

- If the noise is gone, refer to Service Bulletin 95-015, Creaking From the Removable Roof, the Seat Panels, or the Door Glass.
- If the noise is still there, continue to step 2.

2. Remove the interior rear trim panels from the side where the noise is heard (see the NSX Service Manual).

3. Remove the exterior rear pillar panel.

4. Remove the rear inner fender.
5. Remove the side sill panel.
6. Remove the side air scoop.
7. If you are working on the driver's side, disconnect the fuel door cable.
8. Remove the rear bumper.

9. Remove the rear fender.

10. Locate the three weld spots.
11. Massage the area from the three weld spots to the rear edge of the panel, then up to the rear hatch glass. Use a block of wood (1-inch square, 6 to 10 inches long) and a dead-blow hammer.

NOTE:
You only need to move the aluminum 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm. This is enough to reduce the movement of the panel and eliminate the noise. If the noise is not eliminated after moving the aluminum 1 mm, look for other sources of the noise. Refer to Service Bulletin 95-015, Creaking From the Removable Roof, the Seat Panels, or the Door Glass.

12. Test-drive the vehicle to verify that the noise is gone.
13. Reinstall all previously removed components in the reverse order of removal. Torque the rear fender mounting bolts to 13 N-m (9.4 lb-ft).
