Door Lock Knobs Need Tightening

PROBLEM

The door lock knobs may not be screwed on far enough. If a door lock knob comes off, the door lock rod will fall down inside the door. The door panel then has to be removed to reattach the knob to the rod.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Check the position of the door lock knobs and, if necessary, screw them farther onto the rods.

Perform this repair on all vehicles in dealer stock, and on all customer vehicles when they come in for service.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Open both doors, and lower both windows. Remove the key from the ignition switch.

2. Lock both doors.





3. Check the height of the door lock knobs. The middle groove should align with the highest edge of the door trim that surrounds the knob.

4. If either knob is too high, tighten it until it aligns properly.

5. Unlock and close the doors.
