Driver's Seat Clicks

SYMPTOM

A clicking noise is heard in the area of the seat belt buckle when the driver's seat bottom cushion flexes.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The center cover, over the seat belt buckle assembly, is rubbing against the seat frame when the seat bottom cushion moves.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Remove material from the support rib on the center cover.

1. Remove the driver's seat headrest.

2. Remove the four seat track end covers.

3. Remove the seat mounting bolts.

4. Move the seat so you can get to the center cover mounting screws. You may have to disconnect the seat's two electrical connectors.

5. Remove the center cover (2 screws).

6. Use a utility knife to remove 10 mm from the support rib.

7. Reinstall the center cover.

8. Reinstall the seat in the car. Torque the mounting bolts to 37 N-m (27 lb-ft). If you disconnected the electrical connectors, make sure they are connected before bolting the seat down.

9. Reinstall the seat track end covers and the headrest.

10. Test the seat controls to make sure the seat moves in all directions.
