Backup Lamp: Testing and Inspection
NOTE: Before testing, check the No. 1(10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.1. Check whether the back-up lights go on by turning the ignition switch ON (II) and shifting the shift lever to[R].
^ If the back-up lights do not go on, check for:
- blown bulb.
- faulty A/'T reverse relay.
- poor ground (G301, G502).
- an open in the wire.
^ If the back-up lights go on, go to step 2.
2. With the shift lever in position [R], turn the ignition switch OFF.
Back-up Lights Test:
3. Disconnect the 10P connector from the A/T gear position switch.
4. Check for continuity between the No. 2 and No. 8 terminals with the shift lever in position [R].
^ If there is continuity, go to step 5.
^ If there is no continuity, replace the A/T gear position switch.
5. Move the shift lever back and forth at the [R] position, and check for continuity between the No. 2 and No. 8 terminals within the range of free play of the shift lever.
^ If there is no continuity, adjust the A/T gear position switch.
