Security System Sounds for No Reason or Intermittently Will Not Set
SYMPTOM
The security system alarm may sound for no reason after it sets, or it may not set after locking the vehicle.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The trunk latch security switch malfunctions.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the trunk lid latch with the one listed under PARTS INFORMATION.
1. Open the trunk, and remove the trunk lid trim.
2. Disconnect the cylinder rod from the lock cylinder.
3. Remove the three mounting bolts, and disconnect the connector.
4. Pull out the trunk lid latch; disconnect the cylinder rod, the trunk lid opener cable, and the connector; then remove the trunk lid latch.
5. Install the new trunk lid latch in reverse order of removal. Torque the three mounting bolts to 9.8 N.m (7.2 lb-ft).
