NOTE: Replace the bearing with a new one after removal.
REPLACEMENT (AFTER STEERING KNUCKLE IS REMOVED)
1. Separate the front hub from the steering knuckle using the special tools and a press as shown. Refer to Steering and Suspension. Service and Repair
CAUTION:
- Take care not to distort the splash guard.
- Hold onto the hub to keep it from falling when pressed clear.
2. Remove the circlip and the splash guard from the steering knuckle.
3. Press the wheel bearing out of the steering knuckle using the special tools and a press as shown.
4. Remove the wheel bearing inner race from the front hub using the special tool and a commercially-available bearing separator as shown.
NOTE: Wash the steering knuckle and hub thoroughly in high flash point solvent before reassembly.
5. Press a new wheel bearing into the steering knuckle using the old bearing, a plate and a press.
NOTE: Press the wheel bearing into the steering knuckle with the pack seal (metal color) toward the inside. Be careful not to damage the sleeve of the pack seal.
6. Install the circlip securely in the steering knuckle groove.
7. Install the splash guard and tighten the screws.
8. Install the front hub on the steering knuckle using the special tools and a press as shown.
CAUTION: Take care not to distort the splash guard.
