Adjusting Door Glass Guide and Stops

[NEW]
NOTE:
This procedure is rarely required on both doors, and needs to be done only if the glass touches the glass guide.

[NEW]
1. Check for a polish mark on the edge of the door glass where the glass meets the glass guide.

^ If you do not see a polish mark on either window, return the vehicle to the customer.

^ If you see a polish mark on one of the windows, continue with step 2.

[NEW]

2. Remove the glass guide. Then slightly bend it with vise-grip pliers, and reinstall it, making sure it does not contact the glass.

[NEW]

3. Test-drive the vehicle.

^ If the creak is gone, return the vehicle to the customer.

^ If you still hear the creak, but it goes away when you lower the window glass at least 1 mm, continue with step 4.

[NEW]

4. Remove the door panel. (Refer to section 20 of the Service Manual for door panel removal.)

[NEW]
5. Lower the glass halfway. Then, loosen the two glass stop plate nuts, lower the plates 1 mm, retighten the nuts, and reinstall the door panel.

[NEW]
NOTE:
Do not lower the glass more than 1 mm or you may cause a water leak.

[NEW]
6. Test-drive the vehicle to make sure the creak is gone.
