Product Update Campaign: PCV Hose Routing
(Supersedes 99-045, dated December 16, 1999)

BACKGROUND

In some areas of the U.S., certain basic chemical properties of gasoline (regardless of brand) may cause the intake manifold EGR port to clog. If this occurs, the MIL comes on and DTC P0401 (Insufficient EGR Flow) sets.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION








Owners of affected vehicles are being notified by mail about this product update. An example of the customer letter is included in this service bulletin. Due to the limited number of parts available for this product update, owner notification is being done by staggered mailing (see map included in this service bulletin).

CORRECTIVE ACTION

MIL Is Not On

Replace the intake manifold chamber and the PCV hose using REPAIR PROCEDURE A.

MIL IS On With DTC P0401
Clean the EGR port, and replace the intake manifold chamber and the PCV hose using REPAIR PROCEDURE B.

PARTS INFORMATION

Intake Manifold Chamber B kit: P/N 06170-P8A-A10 (Kit contains one intake manifold chamber; one 12 mm diameter hose clamp, one 15.5 mm diameter hose clamp, one PCV hose, and one PCV cap.)

These additional parts are needed for REPAIR PROCEDURE B:

Throttle Body Gasket: P/N 16176-P8A-A01
(Replace on '97 through '99 models)

Throttle Body Gasket: P/N 16177-P8A-A01
(Replace on '97 models only)
