SYMPTOM
The MIL is on with no driveability problems. The PGM Tester displays an A/T code P1706, or the D4 indicator light flashes DTC 6 if you connect the SCS service connector.
PROBABLE CAUSE
A faulty TCM.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the TCM.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Technical Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
DIAGNOSIS WITH PGM TESTER
1. Connect the PGM Tester with software version SN 802 or later (on a 4-MB program card) to the 16P data link connector (DLC).
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
3. From the PROGRAM MENU, select 3: GENERIC OBD II, and follow the prompts. Verify DTCs P1706 and P0700 are set.
NOTE:
DTC P0700 sets simultaneously when any other A/T-related DTC is set.
^ If DTCs P1706 and P0700 are set, turn the ignition switch off, disconnect the PGM Tester, and go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
^ If something other than DTCs P1706 and P0700 are set, disregard this service bulletin, and refer to the troubleshooting procedures in section 14 of the 1998 Integra Service Manual.
DIAGNOSIS WITH SCS SERVICE CONNECTOR
1. Connect the SCS service connector to the 2P service check connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
3. Verify A/T flash code DTC 6 is set.
NOTE:
When A/T flash code DTC 6 is set, the D4 indicator light will indicate six short blinks and the MIL will indicate seven long blinks (DTC 70).
^ If A/T flash code DTC 6 is set, turn the ignition switch off, disconnect the SCS service connector, and go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
^ If something other than A/T flash code DTC 6 is set, disregard this service bulletin, and refer to the troubleshooting procedures in section 14 of the 1998 Integra Service Manual.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the two clips securing the left (driver's side) kick panel, then remove the kick panel.
2. Disconnect the wire harness connectors at the TCM. Remove the two mounting bolts and the mounting nut, then remove the TCM.
3. Install the new TCM, and secure it with the two mounting bolts and the mounting nut. Torque the mounting bolts to 12 Nm (8.7 lb-ft).
4. Reconnect the wire harness.
5. Reinstall the kick panel.
