Product Update: NSX Engine Control Module

BACKGROUND

When the engine speed is above 5,000 rpm, the engine and vehicle may slow more rapidly than expected if the accelerator pedal is released.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION





All owners of affected vehicles will be mailed a notification of this campaign. An example of the customer letter is in this service bulletin.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the engine control module (ECM).

WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Move the passenger's seat as far forward as it will go. Tilt the seat-back forward.





2. Remove the rear upper trim panel (3 clips).

3. Remove the right rear trim panel (4 clips).





4. Remove two mounting screws from the rear center trim panel, and three mounting screws from the rear side trim panel.





5. Disconnect the six connectors from the ECM.

6. Remove the four ECM mounting bolts. Remove the ECM.

7. Install the new ECM. Reconnect the six connectors.

8. Reinstall the interior panels.

9. Move the passenger's seat to its normal position.





10. Connect the PGM Tester. Enter the VIN.

11 Select the Immobilizer menu (# 5).

12. Select the Rewrite option (# 3).

13. Select the ECM (# 2).

14. Enter the PGM Tester password.

15. Press Enter to rewrite the immobilizer code in the ECM.

16. Disconnect the PGM Tester.

17. Turn the ignition switch ON. The immobilizer indicator should come on for two seconds, then go out.





18. Center-punch a completion mark above the second character (H) of the engine compartment VIN.
