CD Tray Will Not Stay Closed

PROBLEM

The 4-disc CD tray opens by itself or the latch will not hold the tray closed.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the CD tray.

Out of warranty: Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Technical Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write down your customer's radio station presets.
2. Remove the rear console.
3. Remove the front console covers and the console panel.





4. Remove the audio unit.





5. Remove and discard the CD tray (save the two screws).





6. Looking through the opening in the dashboard, check the routing of the mode motor harness.

- If the harness is routed above or behind the radiator fan control module, go to step 7.
- If the harness is routed in front of the radiator fan control module, tuck the harness between the control module and the bracket as shown, then go to step 7.

7. Install the new CD tray.
8. Plug in the antenna lead and the audio unit connectors. Make sure the antenna lead and the connectors are properly plugged in before you continue.
9. Reinstall the audio unit.
10. Reinstall the console panel and the front console covers.
11. Reinstall the rear console.
12. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, then enter your customer's radio station presets.
